Hey!

What are your New Year’s Resolutions? Better yet, what are you PROCLAIMING in 2020?

It’s crazy, but even by the end of January, most people will have forgotten about their well-meaning fitness resolutions that they made on the first of the year. And personally, I think resolutions are lame. There, I said it!

I’d rather PROCLAIM something at the start of each year rather than resolve it. For instance, I proclaim that I will go with confidence in the New Year! Doesn’t that sound more impactful and empowering than something like - I want to lose 10 lbs or workout 3x a week? Not that those are bad resolutions - but honestly, how many times have you set out to commit to your fitness and wellness goals in the beginning of a new year and by February or March you’ve lost all interest or shifted back to your old habits? (I used to be guilty of this too!)

OKay, NOW to help you proclaim your New Year’s goals and kick ass in 2020, here are my five tips to turn your resolution road kill into a thing of the past!

1. Stop being a commitment queen.

Eliminate one or two items from your busy schedule to free up time to pursue your passionate interests. Which will they be? It may be tough at first to think about, but there are definitely things you can get rid of that just aren’t serving you. For example, I can tell you I will be spending LESS time scrolling through social media in 2020. Holy crap the amount of wasted time I spend on Facebook and Instagram! Maybe you can relate?

2. Do something, even if it's wrong.

And in case I need to say it, by wrong I don’t mean something illegal! What I mean is do something that you’ve been wanting to try (like take up photography), but you feel guilty for spending the time trying a new hobby. Initially, you might stumble or get frustrated, but 90 percent of success is showing up. Whether you're selling an idea, trying to land a new client or learning how to paint, you have to show up and put yourself out there. Give that idea, that passion, or even that hobby a chance! What idea or fun new project will you pursue this year?

3. Plan for growth.

Getting a little personal here, but hands down, 2019 has been THE most challenging year professionally and personally for me. This year I decided to quit the shit and reinvent myself as a personal trainer in a very competitive and oversaturated city of other health and wellness coaches. No doubt, I have had many ups and downs trying to figure out who I am and why I need to keep doing what I do. Trust me, I had moments of wanting to give up! But I love what I do, so I knew I couldn’t. How great it feels to really KNOW what I am meant to do. MY passion is to share what I know and help other busy women maintain their health while working and raising families. What’s yours?

4. Challenge Your Obstacles.

Let go of the notion that you don't have enough time, energy, money or discipline to do what it takes to succeed. When you challenge that thought you will magically make more things happen. Girlfriend, YOU HAVE THE DAMN TIME to fit fitness into your life. If you have 10 minutes to shop online, you have 10 minutes to get your sweat on! The commitment to your fitness and your overall health, directly correlates to your growth.

In life, just like in business, when you neglect growth, the passion inside you fizzles. Plan not only for a bigger house or an updated vehicle, but for inner growth and better health in 2020. Try to reinvent yourself on a regular basis. You don't want to wake up five years from now and greet the same woman in the mirror. You want to see a new person who has transcended former boundaries!

5. Stick with it and endure.

Many women who fail in reaching their goals simply turned back too soon. Don’t give up! The path is long and the terrain can be tough, but you can’t quit. I’ve had my moments of wanting to give up when pursuing something new and challenging, but I am so glad I didn’t! When your endurance is tested and you're tempted to give up, remember this: You will miss not only the gold at the end of the rainbow, but also a wealth of other treats along the way. I know my hard work will pay off, as it will for you too when you set out to accomplish your fitness goals! It really is a marathon, not a sprint, and there are no quick fixes – but the end result of living a life you love and living in a body you love, is well worth it!

Here's to wishing you a Happy New You! And remember: We are women and we can do anything!

xoxo
